{"id":605,"date":"2010-12-31T21:11:32","date_gmt":"2011-01-01T01:11:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cheese.carrotseverywhere.com\/?p=605"},"modified":"2010-12-31T21:11:32","modified_gmt":"2011-01-01T01:11:32","slug":"new-years-eve-cheese-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch2.carrotseverywhere.com\/?p=605","title":{"rendered":"New Year&#8217;s Eve cheese"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cheese.carrotseverywhere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/alpine_cheeses.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-614\" title=\"alpine_cheeses\" src=\"http:\/\/cheese.carrotseverywhere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/alpine_cheeses-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The cheeses were all from <a title=\"Calvert-Woodley\" href=\"http:\/\/www.calvertwoodley.com\/\">Calvert-Woodley<\/a>, a very nice local cheese &amp; wine shop.\u00a0 (clockwise from lower left)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/articles.sfgate.com\/2006-03-02\/wine\/17284918_1_goat-cheese-ultrafiltration-cheesemaking\">Fromager d&#8217;Affinois<\/a> is a double-cream cow&#8217;s milk cheese.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve had it before, and it was still very good.\u00a0 Somewhat like the Saint Angel that we had last week, but milder.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"emmentaler\" href=\"http:\/\/www.switzerland-cheese.com\/en\/home\/range\/emmentaler-aoc.html\">Emmentaler<\/a>, an AOC alpine cheese that was on sale.\u00a0 It looks like traditional &#8220;Swiss cheese&#8221; with the holes.\u00a0 It was a bit rubbery.\u00a0 Good for fondue (probably), but not the best for a cheese board.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"gruyere wars\" href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/2010\/aug\/16\/swiss-win-the-gruyere-cheese-war\">Gruyere<\/a>, also on sale.\u00a0 Another AOC alpine cheese, but a better texture, and no holes.\u00a0 Good for both a cheese board and fondue.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Maytag blue cheese\" href=\"http:\/\/www.maytagdairyfarms.com\/\">Maytag Blue<\/a> &#8211; one that we&#8217;ve had before.\u00a0 Very good (for a blue), and featured in this month&#8217;s <a title=\"Culture cheese magazine\" href=\"http:\/\/culturecheesemag.com\/\">Culture<\/a> magazine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The cheeses were all from Calvert-Woodley, a very nice local cheese &amp; wine shop.\u00a0 (clockwise from lower left) Fromager d&#8217;Affinois is a double-cream cow&#8217;s milk cheese.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve had it before, and it was still very good.\u00a0 Somewhat like the Saint Angel that we had last week, but milder.
